What is the hardest part of surviving a loss? For many, it is learning how to live after it.
In conflict-affected communities, grief is rarely carried alone. It is often accompanied by displacement, severe economic hardship, and the ongoing trauma of insecurity.
In August, 2026, in partnership with Beacon Of Hope Initiative we had the privilege of walking alongside 30 widows in the Bassa region. Many of these women have faced unimaginable pain—losing spouses and children, surviving violence, and struggling to rebuild their lives and shelter without a safety net.
Through dedicated trauma healing sessions and economic support, these women were given a safe space to process their grief, find relief, and begin restoring their sense of dignity and hope.

The impact of this safe space is best expressed in their own words:
“I hadn’t been able to sleep well at night since losing my husband. I was always worrying and afraid. But after our trauma healing sessions, I felt a deep sense of ease. I don’t feel as anxious as I used to.”
Trauma is real, but recovery is possible. Grief is heavy, but hope can return.
We are deeply grateful to Beacon of Hope Initiative for partnering with us to stand by these women as they take their first vital steps toward healing, stability, and a brighter future.
