2026 World Read Aloud Day

Long before writing began, stories were passed down from one generation to another. Oral storytelling was the first way humans preserved knowledge, wisdom, and creativity. World Read Aloud Day brings this tradition back to life while promoting literacy.

In 2010, World Read Aloud Day was created by LitWorld in New York City. Inspired by a child, and it is celebrated on the first Wednesday of every February.

As we commemorated World Read Aloud Day, with the theme “Celebrate Learning.” We visited two schools in our community and read aloud to the children. We also encouraged parents and teachers to make reading aloud a regular habit for their children. We will continue to reach more schools in our community with read aloud.
Reading aloud brings the elements of language, connection, and storytelling. These shape a child’s world with words, ideas, learning, and love.

It is a powerful tool for brain development and connection. It helps to give children a strong foundation for life.
