In September 2025, Claire Aid Foundation in collaboration with the Child Protection Network (CPN) Plateau State hosted stakeholder engagements in 3 communities – Jebbu Miango, Jebbu Bassa and Miango and also established child rights clubs in 3 schools in Miango
The engagements started 0n the 2nd of September 2025, with a stakeholder engagement meeting on child rights protection at the local government secretariat of Bassa in Jebbu Bassa. This was followed by a similar engagement in Jebbu Miango on 7th September 2025, which held at the Jebbu Miango Community Library and Learning Resource Centre and another in Miango town which held the next week.
The events brought together community leaders, security agencies, teachers, road transport workers, and religious leaders. Attendees identified and discussed several critical child rights violations, including child trafficking, parental neglect, child marriage, rape, and children dropping out of school to work in mining sites amd several others.
In response, stakeholders proposed practical solutions and were challenged to take an active role in curbing these issues. To ensure the sustainability of these efforts, Community Child Protection Committees (CCPC) were established under the guidance of the CPN, Plateau State Chapter.
It is crucial to protect the rights of children. Let’s work together to safeguard them and raise awareness among those who are uninformed.
Also, on September 25th 2025, Claire Aid Foundation, in collaboration with the Child Protection Network CPN – Plateau State established Child Rights Clubs in three schools in Miango. These clubs were created to address the increasing cases of child abuse, rape, child trafficking, child labor, drug abuse, and other child-related abuse.
With direction from CPN, students elected leaders from among themselves to lead the club activities. These leaders will receive training from CPN to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively fulfill their responsibilities.
The establishment of the clubs marks an important step in creating safe spaces where children can learn about their rights and responsibilities. It will help them gain the confidence to speak up and collaborate with teachers, parents, law enforcement, and community leaders to promote child protection and foster safer schools and communities.
Let’s protect our children from abuse.
